Ethnic Minority Foundation appoints its first marketing team

The six-strong team are responsible for promoting the organisation and raising an endowment fund of £100m to support the charity’s efforts for Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) voluntary organisations in the UK.

The team consists of Head of Communications Matthew Sowemimo, Head of Direct Marketing Michael Lefante, Direct Marketing Officer Usha Tharmalingam, Head of Fundraising Swazi Maini and Marketing Administrator/Researcher Safina Hussain.

The Ethnic Minority Foundation was established in 1999 to build a secure base for Britain’s minority ethnic communities.

It aims to recruit 100,000 BME professionals as donors to the endowment fund of £100m and as volunteers in the movement for social regeneration. It has already begun building the capacity of the BME voluntary sector and encouraging BME professionals to donate to the foundation.

Director of Fundraising and Marketing Jim Swindells, said: “We have drawn people from within the corporate and voluntary sectors, therefore we have a good mix of skills and experience in the team. I am confident that we are up to the challenge of meeting such an ambitious target.”
