Ian Rankin auctions thriller character name for charity
Thriller author Ian Rankin is offering to name a character in his next book after the highest bidder in a charity auction.
Individuals and companies can bid for their name to appear in the next Ian Rankin thriller. The auction is being held to raise funds for the Independent newspaper’s Christmas appeal.
The idea is not new. John Baguley, Director of Fundraising at the International Medical Foundation for Victims of Torture, ran a similar event, the Immortality Auction, in December 2000.
