Charity income is failing to keep up with the rate of inflation according to the latest research from Charities Aid Foundation.

The combined total income of CAF’s top 500 fundraising charities exceeded £5 billion in 1999, generating an absolute increase of £70 million on the previous year. However, in real terms, this represented a decrease of 1.7%, compared to a rise of 9% in 1998.
