Ecclesiastical Insurance, which insures many UK charities, has announced a 15% increase in the amount of its annual charitable donation.

The company is increasing its donations from £4.24 million to £4.9 million, including a special one-off payment of £0.5 million.

According to The Directory of Social Change’s ‘The guide to UK Company Giving 2005’, Ecclesiastical is the 8th largest corporate donor to charities. However, it points out that, of all those companies publishing profits in 2003, Ecclesiastical comes top for the percentage of pre-tax profits it donated (9.59%).
