community investment facility, and develops high quality

Internet-based community development information services. Calvert Foundation has a current portfolio of more than $27 million in non-profits globally, supporting its effort to

end poverty through investment and support the growth and

capitalisation of non-profits.

“The award of pre-IPO stock is an interesting tie-in with the very work we’re doing in channeling critical investment capital to nonprofits”, said Timothy Freundlich, director of strategic development for Calvert Foundation. “As the non-profit sector matures, we’re finding capital structures and business models becoming increasingly sophisticated – this award can only benefit Calvert Foundation’s own

self-sustainability.”

Founded in May 1999, Social Ecology offers online software products that meet critical needs of non-profit organisations. Examples include InWeb IT, a knowledge-management tool for providing consistent information to employees, board members and other stakeholders; DonorLink IT, an e-mail relationship-management tool for staying in

touch with donors and other supporters; and Basic IT services such as Web hosting and e-mail.

Previously, Social Ecology has announced similar grants to

CompassPoint Nonprofit Services of San Francisco and INDEPENDENT SECTOR

of Washington, DC.
