The Alzheimer’s Society, the care and research charity for people with dementia, their families and carers, has partnered with content management specialist, Jadu, to develop its online infrastructure. A new website featuring ‘Web 2.0’ tools and functions will be launched later this year.

The charity provides services, information, ./guidance and help through its network of 25,000 members across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Recognising the increased demand for online information the organisation has chosen Jadu’s technology to redevelop substantially its online presence to cater for all its users.

The first phase of the programme includes moving the charity’s intranet to Jadu Intranet 2.0, creating a payments system for receiving donations online and giving users the ability to find local services by integrating with a back office database.

The second phase of activity will tackle customer relationship management (CRM) integration and begin the process of creating local websites using Jadu Galaxies.

Said Dajani, website manager at the Alzheimer’s Society, said: “Encouraging greater public understanding of dementia and engaging with our volunteers and staff using the same platform is key for us.

“The new content management system from Jadu gives us the opportunity to make sure that these websites are accessible and means we can quickly develop new projects”.

Since its first implementation for the DTI’s Oil and Gas portal in 2002, Jadu has evolved further and been implemented for hundreds of private, public and charity sector organisations across the UK.
