Guardian launches Christmas charity appeal
The Guardian has launched its third annual Christmas appeal to its readers on behalf of four charities. Last year the appeal raised over £200,000.
Each year UK Fundraising suggests that newspapers make more of their Christmas appeals online. This year the Guardian mentions the appeal online, but doesn’t give any response mechanism – not even a telephone number, or a link to an online donation site.
Nor is there any mention of the new tax-efficient benefits of giving, following the Gift Aid changes in April.

The two display ads for the appeal in today’s Guardian newspaper similarly make no mention of the Gift Aid opportunities.
