How Associations use the Internet

Howard Lake | 2 November 2000 | News

How are UK associations, societies, institutions and other professional bodies using the Internet? The first in a series of annual surveys has found out. Of the 182 respondents, 82% said that their Web site was funded from internal budgets while only 9% had funding from commercial partners and only 4% had government funding. Seven per cent said their Web sites had attracted new members. Unfortunately, although there were questions on expenditure, budgets and e-commerce applications, there was no question on online income generation.

The survey was conducted by Parity Internet, a specialist in Internet solutions for associations, in conjunction with Association Manager Magazine, the Cabinet Office’s Office of the E-Envoy, and The CBI’s Trade Association Forum.
