Promising year

ITV launched its Year of Promise campaign today with 75-minute show this evening hosted by Carol Vorderman. The campaign is designed to encourage people to make a promise to do something to make a difference to society in the new Millennium, in particular for the under-privileged.

The promise does not have to be related to fundraising, but Ms Vorderman has pledged herself to raising £300,000 to buy 500 computers for children’s hospital charity Express Link Up.

The Year of Promise campaign involves 14 hours of live TV and will culminate on 1 May 2000. Online it has the support of Freeserve.
