British Epilepsy Association covers costs online

Howard Lake | 9 September 1999 | News

The British Epilepsy Assocation is covering its costs online through online fundraising. Michael Hickey told UK Fundraising that, following the introduction of secure online payment facilities donors and online shoppers had contributed £310 in one month.

The site offers one of the first examples of a fundraising interstitial advertisement, an adventurous attempt to squeeze in a fundraising message as visitors move around the site.

The site was launched in March 1997 and is sponsored by Glaxo Wellcome. It is attracting between “45,000 – 50,000 hits per week”, with about 90,000 page impressions a month. About 60% of our visitors are from the UK.
