Call for electronic information for charity fundraisers

Howard Lake | 23 October 1993 | News

Howard Lake calls for electronic information to be made available to fundraisers.

In a letter to DONORS, the technology in fundraising magazine, Howard Lake calls for the publication in electronic form of the Charity Commission’s database of charities, including grant-making trusts. He suggested it be published in CD-ROM and online formats.

“I am surprised at the lack of electronic information for fundraisers available in electronic form,” he wrote. “Given the size of the voluntary sector, surely it is time for the data-handling efficiencies of electronic information to be made available to non-profits?”

Lake added that he had already asked Charities Aid Foundation if and when they planned to publish the Directory of Grant Making Trusts on CD-ROM.
