Ashden Awards for Sustainable Energy open for entries

Howard Lake | 20 September 2010 | News

The Ashden Awards for Sustainable Energy are now seeking entries from schools, not-for-profit initiatives, and public sector organisations that encourage the use of sustainable energy.
For the first time they are also seeking applicants from any sector that are working to create “significant and sustained behaviour change” either in their own organisation, other enterprises, or across a community.
Cash prizes of up to £20,000 are available, and winners receive a package of benefits and support including a broadcast-quality short film about their work, tailored business support, introductions to influential policy makers and, in certain cases, funders.
Applications must be for work that has been running for at least a year, is technically excellent and is improving the lives of local people.
The Ashden Awards for Sustainable Energy are themselves a registered charity, set up in 2001 to champion practical, local energy solutions that cut carbon, protect the environment, reduce poverty and improve people’s lives.
The closing date for applications is 26 October 2010.
