Simon Scriver’s opening plenary at the March 2013 Fundraising Ireland conference is a call to arms to explain better to the public how fundraisers and charities work, why we do what we do, and why it matters.

He argues that “companies and the public have been turning on charities and as fundraisers are in the firing line”, and in his opening plenary set out “the unrealistic expectations and double standards we’re up against”.

Simon Scriver looks at “how companies are taking your income and trying to replace you, and how the public are helping”. He explores “the negative media coverage we receive and what we can do about it”.
