New guide on how European funders support advocacy
GrantCraft has published a new guide explaining how European funders support advocacy and campaigning.
'Speaking Up! Foundations and Advocacy in Europe' was launched at the European Foundation Centre's Autumn Assembly in Brussels.
In the guide, European funders describe how they engage in advocacy and how they sponsor advocacy for public policy change. Foundation staff cover strategy, timing, collaboration and messaging in effective advocacy.
It also features advice on engaging in advocacy at the level of the European institutions, and details of to what degree foundations are restricted in individual countries in terms of what advocacy they can support or engage in.
The publication includes Zsofi Lang's cartoons on six possible pathways to policy change. For example, do you build an advocacy movement to lead change, or do you wait for windows of political opportunity when key players within the political system are more likely support your cause?
GrantCraft is a joint project of The Foundation Center and the European Foundation Centre.
