The Queen's charities raise £1.4 billion, according to CAF
Research by the Charities Aid Foundation to mark the Diamond Jubilee reveals that the charities of which Her Majesty The Queen is patron raise a total of £1,427,000,000.
Queen Elizabeth II is patron of 510 charities in Britain, including Cancer Research UK, the British Red Cross and Barnardo’s. The two areas of activity she supports most are charities that deal with community and civic causes, and those that support education and training. She supports a further 90 charities based around the world.
CAF describes her as “one of the world’s greatest supporters of charities”. Her family are also actively engaged in supporting charities. The Royal Family, according to CAF’s research, supports 2,415 charities in Britain and nearly 3,000 worldwide. The Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip, is the patron of the Charities Aid Foundation.

The Duchess of Cambridge supporters Action on Addiction, East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices and the Scout Association, among others. The Queen’s grandchildren support 16 charitable organisations between them.
The research was based on Charity Commission data available at charitytrends.org, and the royal charities database.
John Low, Chief Executive of the Charities Aid Foundation, said: “The Queen has set an amazing example when it comes to her charitable support making an enormous difference to millions of people up and down the country; doing more for charity in the last 60 years than probably any other monarch in history.”
He added: “We want to promote a culture where supporting charities by giving time or money is the norm. The Queen’s work for charities of all types is an example to all of us.”
