£100k prize offered for innovation and entrepreneurship in water
The Stone Family Foundation has announced a new £100,000 prize to support promising new initiatives in the international water sector. The Stone Prize for innovation and entrepreneurship in water is open to all organisations focused on improving access to and quality of drinking water in sub-Saharan Africa or South and South East Asia.
The first round for applications opens on 1 February 2012. The foundation is looking for evidence of innovation, entrepreneurship, early stage of development, effectiveness, sustainability and scalability.
Applications close on 22 March 2012 (World Water Day).
It will make a cash prize of £100,000 each to up to five winning organisations to help them develop their idea further.
The foundation supports innovative, sustainable and entrepreneurial approaches to tackling major social problems across the UK and around the world. Since September 2010 it has focused its attention on water, sanitation and hygiene.
