Wickes raises over £2 million for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research

DIY retailer Wickes has beaten its fundraising target of £2 million for its first national charity partner Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research. Staff, suppliers and customers at the company’s 210 shops across the UK have been raising funds for the blood cancer charity since October 2006.
As well as sponsored skydives, marathons and shark dives, Wickes staff have also joined in some extreme team bonding events with managing director Jeremy Bird. ‘Team Wickes’ has conquered the Three Peaks Challenge, climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, taken on the volcanoes of Ecuador and in September this year, 20 colleagues cycled 520km to Mount Everest’s Base Camp.
Jeremy Bird said: “Passing the landmark figure of £2 million pounds is exciting for all of us and we’re proud to have been able to make such a contribution to the life saving work of Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.”
