RSPCA's new Big Sunday Lunch campaign targets hospitality sector for support

Howard Lake | 14 September 2011 | News

The RSPCA has announced a new fundraising event in its calendar, The Big Sunday Lunch, and it is urging hospitality companies to support it.
The Big Sunday Lunch takes place on 30 October 2011 and the charity is encouraging people to invite friends and families to come round a dining table to eat good fun and have fun and raise funds.
In particular, the RSPCA is targeting restaurants, bars, hotels, pubs, and cafés that are committed to the welfare of animals reared for good. Part of the campaign involves encouraging participants to consider where their food comes from. Those holding fundraising events will be invited to use only Freedom Food assured produce for their lunch.
The event is being promoted to over one million RSPCA supporters, and is supported by a consumer PR and online marketing campaign.
Ian Daniels, corporate partnerships manager at RSPCA, said: “We wanted to create a fun event that not only celebrates a great British tradition, but also provides huge scope for hospitality businesses committed to animal welfare to raise funds and profile for the charity.”
