The Ireland Funds has launched a worldwide campaign to support organisations in Ireland in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Fund COVID-19 Response Fund has identified the following priority areas:
- Food and Food Distribution

- Elderly Services
- Access to Education
- Mental Health
- Community Support
The Fund said it launched its appeal because the COVID-19 pandemic is proving devastating to nonprofit organisations across the island of Ireland.

“Organisations are facing limited resources and collapsing fundraising streams as they strive to deliver. For some, this crisis is challenging not only their reach, but their very existence,” a Fund statement said.
100% of every gift will go to the campaign, the Fund said. The organisation said they will use their expertise and insight into the nonprofit sector ensures that all gifts are used to the highest good.
The Fund has developed relationships with a number of organisations across Ireland to deliver support for their priority areas: 174 Trust, Barnardos, COPE Galway, DePaul, The National College of Ireland Early Learning Initiative, FoodCloud, Good Shepherd Cork, Making Connections, MyMind, and Safe Ireland.
The Fund has had to cancel many of its events, including its biggest fundraising event of the year, a gala in May in New York. Last year’s New York gala raised $2.3 million.
In 2018, The Ireland Funds in Ireland received €2,354,455 (donor advised restricted funds) from donors in Ireland, up from €1,722,353 in 2017. Grant disbursements from donor advised restricted funds amounted to €2,334,531 in 2018, (2017: €1,650,217), representing a 41% increase on the prior year.
