Txtlocal launches Charity Short Code for SMS donations
SMS message service Txtlocal has introduced a service for UK charities, enabling them to accept SMS donations at low cost.
The company, whose 75,000 business clients include Google, Manchester United, MySpace, and Confused.com, have introduced their Charity Short Code. CEO Alistair Shortland, who spoke earlier this month at the Institute of Fundraising South West Autumn Conference, said: “We want the charity to be the only beneficiary, so we have no handling fees and the lowest set up fees and running costs in the UK today”.
The company charges £50 as a set-up fee, and then £25 per month thereafter, with each text costing 2.8p.
Although it doesn’t handle Gift Aid reclaims on behalf of charity clients like the recently launched CAF SMS service, it does provide a link to a web page, branded with the charity’s logo, where donors can opt-in for Gift Aid.
