140 charities to take part in Remember A Charity Week

This year’s Remember A Charity Week is being promoted by 140 charities. The campaign’s organisers say that the week, which runs from 13-19 September, could be one of the biggest cross-charity campaigns in the UK.
The Remember A Charity consortium was set up in 2000 to encourage more people to consider leaving a gift to charities in their Will once they’ve looked after family and friends.
This year’s Remember A Charity Week will see member charities running their own PR activities, using branded materials including teabags and ribbon to help promote the campaign. For example The Salvation Army will be branding their 800 corps nationwide, and The Children’s Society will be giving away free teabags with purchases in their charity shops.
The campaign will also feature a “Legacies through a Lens” photography exhibition to be held at the Oxo Tower in London. The exhibition will showcase photographs taken by various celebrities, capturing the work of legacies and the difference that they can make to a charity.
The campaign could make a substantial difference to charities: the UK legacy market is currently worth more than 25 times the annual amount raised by Comic Relief, yet just a 4% change in behaviour would raise a further £1 billion for good causes every year.
