John Lewis funds 10 extra Partner secondments

To mark 10 years of its community giving programme, the Golden Jubilee Trust, The John Lewis Partnership is providing an additional £50,000 to cover the cost of ten additional Partner secondments in 2010. These will be worth at least 5,000 extra hours to charities across the UK. ‘Partners’ is the company’s term for staff.
The Golden Jubilee Trust allows Partners at any level within John Lewis or Waitrose to apply for a secondment to provide help for a charity, whilst developing new skills which can be used in both their work and personal lives. Over the past 10 years, it has provided 181,000 hours of Partners’ time to charities.
The Trust awards approximately 50 secondments each year on a full or part-time basis for a maximum of six months and takes on the Partners’ full pay to cover the placement.
Chris Jones, Manager of the Golden Jubilee Trust at the John Lewis Partnership, said: “We are passionate about the part the Trust plays in the community and the benefits the work has on both charities and our Partners. This year’s extra funding will give the programme an additional boost and enable us to give much needed support to even more charities”.
