City Business Library – London
The November 2009 newsletter from the City Business Library is now available from the Library website www.cityoflondon.gov.uk.
The 1st and 2nd phases of the Guildhall Library refurbishment programme are almost complete and the preparation of the new accommodation began on Monday 26th October. The Guildhall Library will close in mid-December and it is anticipated that it will reopen in Guildhall early in 2010, incorporating the relocated City Business Library.
If you are not already a member of the City of London lending libraries, you can access some of the library databases from your desktop, if you join. Check the link “E-Services from Libraries Online” for details of electronic resources.

Apparently, anyone can join a City of London Lending Library. You need to provide current proof of your name and home address. You can download the membership form from the website. You will need to provide proof of your name & home address (e.g. recent utilities bill, bank/credit card statement, driving licence or medical card). If you live outside the Square Mile of the City of London, you will also need to provide current proof of your eligibility (e.g. work pass, student card or home library card).
The library will no longer stock company annual reports after November 2009. However, they will be available in the library via the company information databases, Mergent Online and OneSource International Businesses. You can also use some company information databases free of charge in the library – FAME, Kompass and Marketline.
A new report on Care of the Elderly (from Laing & Buisson) is available at the Periodicals Desk. Apparently it includes regional data, demographics, current care provision and forecasts.
