Charity Christmas appeal films 2021: the round-up (part one)

The first of this year’s charity Christmas appeal films are out – here are 9 of them.

Children 1st

Scottish charity Children 1st wants Santa’s list to be the only one children think about this Christmas. It is asking people to donate to help the thousands of children across Scotland who are on a waiting list for urgent help and support.

Tŷ Hafan

Welsh charity Tŷ Hafan’s Christmas appeal film focuses on the story of Susan and her son Marshall who needs round the clock care, and how it has helped them. Its appeal asks the public to help it support more families like theirs.


The Sick Children’s Trust

This Christmas The Sick Children’s Trust wants to keep families together during the festive period and help them make the most of the time they spend together. It is asking people to give £30, which will enable it to give a family a day together.


Llamau

Llamau’s appeal film focuses on Matilda who talks about her difficult home life as a child, which led to her becoming homeless, and how the charity has supported her, helping her make her own home for herself and her baby.  


St Helena Hospice

Colchester’s St Helena Hospice remains open over Christmas with all of its services continuing to run over the festive season. Its animated appeal film asks people to share the magic of Christmas by donating to help it help patients spend Christmas with those they love.


YMCA North Tyneside

YMCA North Tyneside’s appeal film explains the services it offers young people facing homelessness in the area and its aims for the future through the voices of staff and young people it has helped.


CAFOD Advent Appeal

CAFOD’s Advent appeal film tells the story of Nomita who lives in south west Bangladesh, and her community, and how the climate crisis is affecting them. It asks people to donate to help people like Nomita adapt to the effects of cyclones and floods.


Claire House Children’s Hospice

In Claire House Children’s Hospice’s appeal film, children and young people whose brothers and sisters are cared for by the hospice or who have passed away talk about why Claire House is so important to them and ask the public to donate to help more families like theirs.


Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity

GOSH Charity has launched its 2021 Christmas Appeal with an animated film about 4-year-old patient Henry’s journey from Great Ormond Street Hospital to his home in Bridlington, East Riding of Yorkshire.  The film shows Henry, who spent his first two Christmases at GOSH, being helped by magical stockings that represent donations from GOSH Charity supporters. Along the way Henry meets a woman who is based on 100-year-old GOSH Charity supporter Ivy, who gifts him his final pair of stockings.  Soundtracked by Norwegian popstar Sigrid’s ‘Home To You (This Christmas)’ the film is part of the charity’s 2021 Appeal which has been supported by Hamleys.



The Big Give Christmas Challenge 2021

Taking place from 12 pm (midday) Tuesday 30th November to 12 pm, Tuesday 7th December 2021, all donations made to participating charities can be doubled.
