Computer Aid Twitterthon aims for 1,000 PCs donated in four hours

IT charity Computer Aid International is encouraging Twitter users to pledge to donate 1,000 PCs within four hours next week to help schools and hospitals in the developing world.
The Twitterthon will start a four-week appeal by the charity to take delivery of 10,000 PCs and monitors from UK donors to equip schools and hospitals in Africa with IT equipment.
The Twitterthon will be launched at 11am on Tuesday 16 June. Followers of the charity will be encouraged to pledge a donation of their IT equipment to @Computer_Aid in order to reach 1,000 pledges via Twitter in just four hours.

Computer Aid professionally refurbishes PCs and laptops in its London workshop and ships them for re-use in schools, hospitals and community organisations in developing countries.
Tony Roberts, CEO and Founder of Computer Aid, said: "We are experiencing an incredible increase in orders of PCs from schools, hospitals, universities and community organisations. We estimate there are thousands of PCs currently collecting dust today in back-rooms and store cupboards across the country and we are urging people to take action and get involved in the Computer Aid Twitterthon to help raise awareness of this need and meet the demand."
