Getting started with Bluesky for charities

City Business Library (London)

I have just taken a look at the latest newsletter from City Business Library www.cityoflondon.gov.uk. It is free, and includes lots of useful information. The library is a great resource for anyone within easy reach of London Wall. You can only use its resources on site, but it may well be worth a visit.
For example, you can use NewsUK and Thomson NewsRoom. NewsUK (c 70 UK newspapers, dating back to 1991) allows you to email articles from the database. Thomson NewsRoom includes “thousands of publications – from scholarly journals to newswires and press releases” dating back to 2000.
You can also use the FAME company database, and check out company annual reports, for may UK plcs, going back five years.
The library provides free database workshops (lasting c 2 hours) on using the company information and market research databases. If you want a gentle introduction to this sort of thing, contact the library staff.
This month’s featured publication is The Directory of European Textiles, which “provides details of businesses and trade associations in the textile sectors of 46 European countries including the UK”. I must check to see if that is on fResource (www.fresource.info) yet ….
