Happy New Year readers!
I’ve been catching up on a few things, and see that the editorial of the December 2010 edition of Information Age, (the free monthly magazine about technology – computers, the internet, and other matters that occasionally confuse me no end) discusses LinkedIn. Apparently DWF, a law firm that employs over 1,000 people, and has offices in Leeds, Liverpool, London, Manchester and Preston, is encouraging its lawyers to put their details on the LinkedIn site so that potential clients can see the range of expertise that DWF lawyers can offer clients. The editorial also reports that DWF plans to connect LinkedIn to the firm’s customer relationship management application. Well, the more lawyers adding their details to LinkedIn, the better.
However, I sometimes wonder how accurate LinkedIn is as a resource for fundraisers and researchers, as we can all exaggerate/tweak things related to employment, qualifications, interests, etc. Hmm, that sounds like quite a few of the other resources that we use …
