Northern Bank raises £140,000 for charity
Northern Bank in Northern Ireland has donated over £140,000 to its charity partner for 2007, Macmillan Cancer Support. The money was raised over the last year by the staff, with matching support from the company.
The money will go to a financial advice service for people affected by cancer attending the Royal Group of hospitals. Macmillan research has shown that the financial costs associated with a cancer diagnosis can have an enormous impact on the lives of those affected.
Katherine James, Regional General Manager, Northern Bank said: “This the first time that our annual charity partner programme relates directly to managing finances. Northern Bank employees chose Macmillan on the strength of this project and have really got behind it. The result is that staff and customers have raised our highest ever total.”
Heather Monteverde, General Manager for Macmillan Cancer Support Northern Ireland added: “We had hoped that our partnership with Northern Bank would raise £80,000 this year, but thanks to the enthusiasm of Northern Bank staff and customers we have far exceeded our expectations.”
