Fundraisers Advised to make the link with PR and Communications

Howard Lake | 6 December 2007 | Newswire

A recommendation that PR forms the foundations of successful fundraising will be made as part of the Institute of Fundraising’s (‘Institute’) second Fundraising PR and Communications conference to be held on Thursday 24 January 2008 at The Royal Over-Seas League in London.
The use of New Media, such as websites, blogs and video emails are means by which charities can communicate their fundraising with minimal budget. Andrew Page from Crisis – winner of the Third Sector Excellence Award for Digital Media – will present a session during the conference, providing advice on the best way to use New Media.
Highlighting the importance of planned communications, conference sessions also include advice on building an effective crisis communication plan. An interactive panel session with speakers from the sector, national and regional press will answer delegates’ questions on media relations techniques.
Kirsty Thomson, Head of Events at the Institute of Fundraising, says:
PR and communications are key elements in the fundraising mix. A good knowledge and appreciation of PR trends can help fundraisers to raise additional funds and awareness. This conference will bring together case studies, interactive sessions and information on the latest trends so that fundraising PR and communications for charities can be fully explored.”
The comprehensive programme includes presentations from: RNIB, Cats Protection, The Brooke, Myeloma UK, The Source Young Peoples Charity, Quiller Consultants and Crisis UK.
