Going for gold

The Payroll Giving Quality Mark was launched in January 2006 and recognises and rewards organisations for making Payroll Giving available to their staff.
Many companies have Payroll Giving schemes which are all but dormant as the employees are, on the whole, unaware of its’ existence. The Quality Mark is proving to be a valuable carrot to dangle in front of HR managers who, in the past, have not been keen to promote their scheme but who are now eager to achieve a 10% uptake and get the Gold Award.
Companies awarded the Gold Quality Mark will be able to display a special logo on their headed paper, websites etc., and it is hoped that this will encourage other companies to follow suit.
It is interesting to note that this initiative which offers no financial benefit to the company, only recognition of their endeavours, is proving to be more popular than the SME grant which was launched in January 2005 and offers grants of up to £500 and matched giving for staff. It seems that for most companies giving is not enough, being seen to be giving is far more important. Now where have we heard that before?
