Local businessman goes wrong way round British Isles to raise funds

Howard Lake | 2 September 2007 | News

Businessman, Nigel Steljes, founder and Chairman of technology firm, Steljes Limited, has taken the courageous step of swapping his briefcase for a lifejacket in a bid to raise £20,000 for childhood blindness charity, the British Retinitis Pigmentosa Society.

Nigel, along with his four-man crew, will spend 25 days at sea going the ‘wrong way round the British Isles’, travelling 3,000 miles in total up the east coast of England and Scotland, visiting the Orkney and Shetland Islands, before travelling west and onto Northern Ireland. The homeward journey will take in the Isle of Man, Liverpool, Wales and the Scilly Isles, stopping off in Salcombe before finishing on the 18th August.

Sponsors of the challenge include Epson, Toshiba, Steljes and Adepteq, but the crew is appealing for donations to reach their £20,000 target.
