Homebase daffodil bulbs to raise funds for Marie Curie

A new variety of daffodil created for Marie Curie Cancer Care will be sold in all 300 UK Homebase stores from 13 September to 17 November 17 at £1. The variety has been named ‘Choice’ to reflect the charity’s efforts to give more people the choice to die at home.
With each bulb sold at £1, Marie Curie Cancer Care believe the initiative, the first of its kind for Homebase, could raise up to £300,000, which would make it the most successful CRM (Cause Related Marketing) campaign for the charity to date.
The charity has set up a website to capture email addresses from those who buy the bulb and wish to back Marie Curie Cancer Care’s ‘Supporting the Choice to Die at Home’ campaign. People will be driven to the site by a leaflet inside the bulb boxes sold and via consumer PR.

Lorna Liggett, Community Affairs Manager at Homebase said: “Homebase is delighted to give customers the chance to support our UK charity partner by planting their own bulb and helping to raise more funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care when they go on sale on 13 September.”
Earlier this year Homebase customers helped helped raise over £8,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care through the sale of potted Tete a Tete daffodils during January, February and March, which took the organisation’s fundraising total over its two year target of £500,000 in just nine months.
