8 corporate fundraising partnerships for April 2017

For the first Friday of the month, here are eight of the corporate fundraising partnerships that are currently taking place around the UK.
From bug eating events to donations from sales of products, and bins that raise money for charity the more rubbish people put into them, there is a wide range of fundraising activities going on this month.
aramark

1) Aramark, Make A Wish Foundation, & British Red Cross

Aramark has chosen the Make a Wish Foundation and the British Red Cross as its nominated charities in Ireland and the UK for 2017. Throughout the coming year, Aramark’s 15,000 employees will run a series of fundraising events with proceeds raised going directly towards these charities. Aramark established a charitable fund in 2008 and each year, employees nominate charities which they feel are in need of Aramark’s support. In the last nine years over £326,000 has been raised for charities across the UK and Ireland by its employees.

GOSH

2) Slimming World & GOSH

Slimming World members have raised £25,000 in three months for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity. The funds will go towards some of the refurbishment and redevelopment of the hospital’s new cardiac ward. Slimming World has set itself a target of raising £150,000 for GOSH, a new charity partner for 2017, over the course of this year. It donates 10p from the sale of every healthy recipe book, and members are invited to drop small change from their weekly £4.95 group membership payment into Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity branded donation boxes.

3) The Wrigley Company & Keep Britain Tidy

Bin it for Good, the anti-litter project created by Keep Britain Tidy and The Wrigley Company won an Excellence Award for Sustainability at the 2016-17 AIM Nudging for Good Awards. Bin it for Good was designed to change behaviour around littering by offering a reward that benefits the community rather than the individual. For three months, a town centre’s street bins are transformed into ‘charity collection tins’, featuring a new local charity each month. The more litter that goes into the bins each month, and the less litter on the street, the greater a donation the charity receives. Bin it for Good has seen successful results in ten council areas so far, and reduced litter by an average of 42% at one site over three months in the pilot project.

Stroke Association

4) Royal Mail & The Stroke Association

Royal Mail has raised £2million for The Stroke Association, as part of a two-year partnership which ended in December 2016. The money was raised by Royal Mail employees across the UK in variety of ways, including a bug eating competition, skydiving, a 180-mile spin challenge and the Ops Fundraising Challenge, which raised over £1.04 million and saw regions compete to raise the most money. All funds were match funded by the company.

5) Mick George Ltd & Addenbrookes

A year-long partnership between Mick George Ltd and Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust (ACT) has resulted in the redevelopment of Addenbrooke’s Outpatients’ Garden. Mick George donated over £115,000 to develop the previously overgrown garden, which now features a number of benches, a variety of flowers and ‘The Otter’, a water-feature commissioned for Addenbrooke’s by sculptor Laurence Broderick, who created the ‘Bull’ centrepiece at Birmingham’s Bullring Shopping Centre.

morrisons

6) Morrisons & CLIC Sargent

Morrisons has launched its first campaign with CLIC Sargent, which will see it donate 20p from every sale of its packs of British strawberries to the charity. Each pack will retail for £2 and feature the charity’s ‘Young Lives vs Cancer’ tagline and logo. British strawberries have started arriving on Morrisons shelves already, and be available in all stores by mid-April. CLIC Sargent will use some of the money raised by the partnership to expand its financial grants programme for families and young people in need. Morrisons chose CLIC Sargent as its new charity partner in February 2017 and is aiming to raise £8 million over the next three years.

7) The Branch Line Society & Railway Children

Over £43,000 has been raised by the Branch Line Society for Railway Children through a special train trip to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the High Speed Train. The Branch Line Society chartered a special train, in conjunction with Virgin Trains East Coast (VTEC), 125 Group and PLEG, which took passengers from London King’s Cross to Edinburgh and back on 18th March.
