Corporate fundraising round-up for September 2016
Here are six corporate fundraising partnerships for the beginning of September.
From sponsorship and participation in sporting events, to competitions, auctions, friendly fundraising rivalry and donations from sales, the opportunities for involving corporate partners in fundraising are almost endless.
1) Willow Foundation & Amido
Technology consultancy Amido has made a commitment to donate all the money that it makes through partner referrals from Gigya, the customer identity management platform, to the Willow Foundation. The programme means that every time the company receives money from a technology vendor as part of a new contract win, that money will be given directly to Willow to support their special days programme. The first donation of £5,060 was made by Gigya in August.
2) Breast Cancer Haven & Jardine of London
Royalty-inspired handbag brand, Jardine of London partnered with the Guards Polo Club’s Ladies Charity Trophy in support of Breast Cancer Haven on 27th August. Jardine of London sponsored a polo team with the event raising £20k on the day, with a live auction and a silent auction to which Jardine of London donated a bag. Another bag was given as a prize to the Great Sportsmanship winner.

3) Cure Leukaemia, Malmaison & Hotel du Vin
Birmingham hotels Malmaison and Hotel du Vin are engaging in some friendly rivalry to raise vital funds for blood cancer charity Cure Leukaemia. Both hotels are now official corporate partners of the blood cancer charity and will be fundraising throughout Cure Leukaemia’s ‘Just One More’ campaign which aims to raise £40,000 to fund a specialist research nurse for a year. Malmaison and Hotel du Vin will be competing to raise the most through a number of fundraising ideas that will run during September’s Blood Cancer Awareness Month.
4) Make-A-Wish UK & Topgolf UK
Topgolf UK has announced a charity partnership with Make-A-Wish® UK. It has planned a number of charity initiatives, from donations on menu items, to associates taking part in charity skydives, and running the London Marathon to help raise funds and boost the profile of Make-A-Wish, starting with the Topgolf team at Addlestone, Surrey, who took part in a charity skydive on September 1st.
5) Hope for Children & Chipmunks Footwear
Hope for Children and Chipmunks Footwear are collaborating with a competition to design a children’s welly with proceeds from sales to go to the charity. The welly will be sold online by outlets including Debenhams, JD Williams and House of Fraser with 10% of profits to support the charity’s work among vulnerable children in Africa and Asia as well as in the UK. The competition is open until 20th September and the winning entry will be decided by ex-Hear’Say singer Suzanne Shaw. The welly will then be manufactured and sold by Chipmunks Footwear.
6) SSAFA & Briggs Defence
A team supported by Briggs Defence has helped to raise £120,000 for SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, after taking part in a 3,000 mile charity drive across Europe. The specialist defence division of engineering services, asset management and equipment supply company Briggs Equipment was a key sponsor of the biennial charity event, Rally for Heroes, while the Briggs team was one of 60 teams that took part in the event, which aimed to drive five miles for each person to die while on operations in Afghanistan since 2001.
