M&S and Oxfam launch online Shwop Shop selling celeb fashion
Marks & Spencer and Oxfam have launched a temporary online Shwop Shop selling celebrity fashion to raise funds for the charity.
The shop is stocked with pre-loved pieces donated by a number of UK stars as part of the retailer and charity’s Shwopping initiative. Participating celebrities include Millie Mackintosh, Lisa Snowdon and Stella Tennant amongst a number of celebrities who have donated items.
The temporary shop will be hosted on the Oxfam Online Shop and is selling some of the best items the public have donated to M&S’s Shwopping campaign. The site is also stocking classic M&S pieces and over 100 pieces from fashionable celebrities such as Millie Mackintosh, Lisa Snowdon and Stella Tennant.

Customers can buy Stella Tennant’s pink Chanel suit for £1,800, Lisa Snowdon’s black silk DKNY dress for £110 and new Strictly contestant Melvin Odoom’s Nike ID trainers for £45.
All money raised will go to support Oxfam initiatives to fight global poverty. Since the 2012 launch of Shwopping, which allows shoppers to donate or ‘shwop’ an unwanted item of clothing that will go on to be re-sold in Oxfam, re-used or recycled, Oxfam has received 25 million items of clothing through Shwopping, worth an estimated £17 million for the charity.
Mike Barry, Director of Plan A at M&S said:
“Shwopping has been a huge success and the 25 million items ‘shwopped’ so far, has help us to raise over £17 million for Oxfam. We know our customers’ wardrobes are full of hidden treasures, as we see ‘shwoppers’ turn up week in week out to drop off their once-loved clothes into our Shwop Drops and we are honoured to have their ongoing support.”
