Bmycharity passes £10 million mark in online donations
Online fundraising and sponsorship service Bmycharity has now handled over £10 million in charity donations from over 279.408 donors. The company was set up by ormer charity volunteers Ben Brabyn and Matt Cooper, who came up with the idea whilst on a parachuting holiday in 2000.
Ben Brabyn, Managing Director of Bmycharity said: “Our original aim was to make online fundraising easy, fun and safe for charities and charity supporters. We have achieved this through simple and fast websites and a relentless focus on helping our charity partners to benefit from the increased reach and efficiency of online fundraising. Since 2000, we’ve helped UK charities including Oxfam, Cancer Research UK and many smaller organisations deliver £10 million more to their projects.”
Out of the £10 million raised, £1,722,452.36 consisted of Gift Aid, “demonstrating that online fundraising and tax efficient giving are perfect partners”. Recent research by Bmycharity showed that charities which fundraise online raise on average over 75% of the available Gift Aid, boosting the average charity’s total income through online fundraising by 20%.
