The 2016 Voluntary Sector and Volunteering Research Conference has issued a call for papers.
Organised in partnership by by NCVO, the Voluntary Sector Studies Network (VSSN) and the Institute for Volunteering Research (IVR), the event is an interdisciplinary research conference for academics, policy makers and practitioners with an interest in researching issues related to voluntary organisations and volunteering in the context of contemporary challenges.
It aims to provide an opportunity to share research and network across different contexts, countries and different parts of the UK, and takes place on the 8th and 9th of September at Nottingham Conference Centre.
Proposals are invited for either individual papers or panel sessions (several contributions on the same topic or research).
This year, the organisers are particularly interested in proposals relating to one or more of the following themes:
- Civil society and democracy: ongoing challenges and opportunities
- Volunteering and participation: present and future
- New methods, new data: what are the opportunities and challenges presented in research data and methodology on the sector?
- Grassroots voluntary activity: past perspectives and new forms
- Navigating the funding landscape: funding, fundraising and philanthropy
- Voluntary sector governance and management: new challenges and responses
- Advancing theoretical debates: old ideas, new directions
- What’s new? Historical perspectives on the voluntary sector and voluntary action
- The role of the voluntary sector in a new world of public services
The deadline for submissions is 2 May 2016, and information on how to submit a proposal can be found on the NCVO website.
