Amidst fears about the recession, the Irish Cancer Society is asking for more volunteers to support their largest fundraising event – Daffodil Day which will take place on 20th March, 2009.
Speaking at the launch of Daffodil Day 2009, John McCormack said “Clearly we are concerned at the potential impact of the economic downturn on our fundraising efforts and that is why we are putting out a call for more volunteers to support our major fundraising day which has a target of €4.25 million, this year”, he said.
In previous years Daffodil Day raised over €3 million. The Irish Cancer Society’s total fundraising income is around €12 million annually.
