Vitalise appoints trustee with online communications expertise
National disability charity Vitalise has appointed IT consultant Adrian Melrose to its Board of Trustees to help strengthen its application of online communications. Melrose is Managing Director of iconcertina creative Ltd, an IT company providing custom online solutions, and Thirdsay.com, a charity giving website.
Melrose has been donating his time to Vitalise for the past 18 months in the capacity of IT consultant, advising the charity on issues such as web design, interactivity and online communications, and helping plan Vitalise’s five-year IT strategy.
Melrose has focused in particular on helping the charity make more effective use of its website. He plans to help Vitalise introduce more interactivity to the site, so that volunteers, supporters and fundraisers can create profiles and manage their activities online, thus saving time and reducing administration costs.

Melrose’s Thirdsay.com sponsored Vitalise’s Legends of Sport Celebrity Dinner in May this year, helping the charity raise over £45,000 from the event. Iconcertina recently helped Vitalise boost subscriptions to its electronic newsletter by devising an eye-catching online form for its website, coupled with a subscriber competition, for which iconcertina also donated the prize.
Vitalise Chief Executive Pat Wallace said: “We would like to welcome Adrian as a trustee. His talents in the area of online communications will prove an invaluable asset to our Board of Trustees and help us keep pace with an ever-changing business environment.”
Melrose said: “I feel very privileged to be appointed as a trustee to such a great charity. Online technology is the greatest enabler and Vitalise will be one of many charities in the Third Sector to use it to its best advantage.”
