New survey for voluntary/community sector information workers

Howard Lake | 30 June 2006 | News

Vol-Info, the network for voluntary and community sector information workers in the UK, is asking people working in this capacity to take part in an online survey.

Vol-Info’s survey is designed to build a basic picture of the sector and identify the support needs of information workers, and the network will be using the results to organise relevant learning events, develop itself and apply for funding.

Vol-Info, the UK Voluntary Sector Information Workers Network, is free to join and gives members a chance to share information, advice, queries and suggestions via a discussion forum. Its website is still being developed but will contain news of events and resources.

Katherine Hall, Vol-Info Chair, said: “Many people in the voluntary and community sector do information work of some kind – it might be editing a newsletter, keeping a library or maintaining a website. Whether ‘information’ is in the job title or not, we’re the network for you!

“By taking part in the survey, you will be helping us to promote the importance of information work in the sector and develop the resources needed to enable you to carry out your role more effectively”.
