'Dimensions of the Voluntary Sector' renamed

Charities Aid Foundation’s (CAF) annual analysis of the financial performance of the top 500 fundraising charities has changed its name from ‘Dimensions of the Voluntary Sector’ to ‘Charity Trends.’

CAF has today launched its authoritative annual publication, ‘Charity Trends’. The report details the financial resources of UK charities and updates current statistics on their income and expenditure. The extended 24th edition also provides for the first time a picture of five-year trends.

According to Cathy Pharoah, Director of Research at CAF and author of the report: “This is the first time we have taken a wider and longer-term look at trends in the income and expenditure of the top 1000 charities and come up with a definitive view of their health.”

This year’s edition of ‘Charity Trends’ not only provides details on the top 500 fundraising charities, but also updates figures for their donors, including the top 500 grantmaking trusts and foundations, the top 500 corporate worldwide community investors, and tax-efficient donations from the general public.

For the first time, the book highlights the major income-earners for legacy and event fundraising, and identifies some of the local and emerging fundraising sub-sectors – hospitals and hospices, museums, galleries and arts institutions, including a detailed look at five-year trends in the income of universities.

Formerly ‘Dimensions of the Voluntary Sector’, this title is widely regarded as one of the most comprehensive analysis of the resources and expenditure of the UK’s fundraising charities to date. It should prove invaluable both to charity managers planning future income-earning strategies and to policy-makers concerned with the sector’s financial resources.

This is also the first year that ‘Charity Trends’ will be available on CD Rom. In addition to the entire contents of the book, the CD version includes new graph functions, full financial profiles of the top 500 charities and over 50 search fields.

The 24th edition of ‘Charity Trends’ is available for £129.00 (book) or £179.00 (CD Rom) or £249 for both together. Copies can be ordered from CaritasData.
