CRUK introduces giant waterslide SlideRider to raise funds
Cancer Research UK’s latest fundraising event is SlideRider, giving individuals a chance to plunge head-first down a 100 metre inflatable slide in aid of the cancer charity.
All money raised through sales of SlideRider tickets will be used for the Cancer Research UK Kids & Teens campaign. The campaign is raising money to accelerate research to find cures and kinder treatments for children, teens and young adults with cancer.
The three-lane water slide event made its debut in Norwich on 4 July and will next appear at Alexandra Palace, London, on Saturday 25 July. Tickets at the event cost £20 per person for two slides.

The charity recommends that, although there are tickets available on the day, would-be participants should register in advance.
Clive Sanders, head of events at Cancer Research UK said:
“We’re really excited to be launching SlideRider. Every day, around ten young people in the UK are diagnosed with cancer. The good news is that more children are now surviving than ever before, but there is still much more work to be done. We hope SlideRider will be an exhilarating challenge and a fun day out for anyone who wants to help us beat childhood cancers sooner.”
There are age restrictions for participants, and CRUK recommends that participants with pre-existing medical conditions seek advice from their doctor before registering.
