National Trust’s new app designed to enhance membership retention

Howard Lake | 10 July 2015 | News

The National Trust has produced a new mobile app to help members and visitors plan their trips, highlighting the range of different places they can choose from.
By showing members that there is always a lot more to discover with the National Trust, the charity aims to support its efforts to boost membership retention.
Designed in partnership with global marketing and technology agency DigitasLBi, which won a competitive pitch last year to become the Trust’s strategic digital partner, the app is available on iOS, Android, and Windows Phone.

Visitors can use the app to search for outdoor places and properties, filtering by location. They can also search by events and when and where they are taking place.
As well as visitor information such as directions, maps and opening times, the app lets users save places to favourite lists.

Geofencing

When visitors arrive at a National Trust property, the geofencing functionality of the app welcomes visitors, inviting them to switch to ‘visit’ mode which should help them make the most of their visit.
Helen Fuchs, Creative Director at DigitasLBi, commented:

“National Trust exists to look after special places forever, for everyone. We have created an experience that connects visitors to these places wherever they are, and help them discover something new on every visit. By releasing the app across iOS, Android and Windows devices we really have made it an accessible experience for everyone.”
