“This is a brilliant sum, more than doubling the amounts raised by Giving Week last year. We’re not surprised by Mumsnet users’ generosity, and we’re so pleased to be able to contribute to the great work done by these organisations.”

Sally Falvey, Head of Charity Marketing at JustGiving, said:

“Small charities make up 97% of the sector and are a significant driving force in making good things happen up and down the country. With Small Charity Week well underway, this is a great example of how an engaged community like Mumsnet can crowdfund for small charities and help them raise money fast.”

Miriam Ingram, digital communications and support officer at SWAN UK commented:

“This was a fantastic opportunity for SWAN UK to raise awareness of what it means to have a child with an undiagnosed genetic condition. We were blown away by the amount raised through Giving Week and it will make a real difference, enabling SWAN UK to continue to support its members and their families.”

Mumsnet is the UK’s largest network for parents, with over 70 million page views and over 14 million visits per month. It has 180 local sites and a network of 6,500 bloggers. This is the second year in which it has run its charity appeal week.

How can charities get on the list of beneficiary charities?

We asked Mumsnet if this was possible, and it isn’t. It is simply a matter of Mumsnet inviting nominations from users for their favourite charities and good causes, followed by a public vote on these. Mumsnet HQ does not control the outcome of the process.
So, the only way to be in with a chance is to encourage any of your supporters to propose you when Mumsnet invite nominations. Be aware though that, based on the successful charities listed above, the charity should be of particular relevance to Mumsnet users.
