Race for Life aims for Guinness World Record

Cancer Research UK will attempt to set a new Guinness World Record as part of its biggest Race for Life series on “One Big Day” on 4 June 2006. That date will see over 115,000 women across the UK join together to set the record for the Largest Simultaneous Stretch.
This will be a new Guinness World Record as it has not been attempted before. It will take place in 25 cities across the UK and will see Race for Life women stand side by side as they are led through five key stretches including the quadriceps, hamstring, calves, glutes, and hip stretch to work different parts of the body.
The Largest Simultaneous Stretch will take place at 10.30am at all 25 venues as the women standby for their Race for Life warm-up. Fitness expert and ‘Green Goddess’ Diana Moran will lead the City of London workout.

Since it began back in 1994 with just one race in Battersea, more than two million women across the UK have taken part, raising over £100 million to fund Cancer Research UK’s work to help beat cancer.
In 2005 more than 549,000 women took part and raised £33.5 million. For 2006, up to 750,000 women are expected to join in to help raise £46 million.
