Fundraising Ireland to provide fundraising mentoring opportunities

Howard Lake | 24 October 2014 | News

Fundraising Ireland is inviting potential mentors and mentees to apply to its mentoring programme for 2015.
Places on the mentoring programme are limited to 10 mentees and 10 mentors and applications must be submitted by 17.00 p.m. on Friday October 31st.
Fundraising Ireland says the mentoring programme can help progress a career in the fundraising industry both for those entering the profession for the first time or those already in the job. The aims of the programme are to:
· guide mentees on a particular fundraising project/issue
· improve their management skills
· deal with challenges presented by a supervisor/manager
Participants from previous mentoring programmes told Fundraising Ireland that mentoring had improved their fundraising knowledge, interpersonal skills and their professional network.
Fundraising Ireland say mentors also benefit from participation in the programme through gaining satisfaction by helping people and developing interpersonal skills. Mentors will also receive a full day of training in key emotional intelligence and communication skills.
As a contribution towards the costs involved in delivering the mentor-matching and emotional intelligence and communication training, a fee of €200 is payable per mentee. Mentees must be able to cover travel expenses and any other costs associated with the mentoring.
Application forms for both the mentors and mentees is available for download from Fundraising Ireland’s website.
