A new charitable initiative from Disney and Lucasfilm in collaboration with Bad Robot is offering a cameo role in the new Star Wars film as the top prize in fundraising campaign for Unicef.
The first Star Wars: Force for Change campaign will benefit UNICEF’s Innovation Labs and their projects benefiting children in need. Disney has already committed $1 million towards the campaign.
Speaking from Episode VII’s set in Abu Dhabi, Director J.J. Abrams described Force for Change as a “brand new initiative that’s dedicated to finding creative solutions to some of the world’s biggest problems. It’s about helping kids all around the world by supporting UNICEF Innovation Labs and Programmes.”

To enter, Star Wars fans can now donate directly at Omaze.com. A minimum donation of $10 will give them a chance to win one of several prizes.
The competition closes at 11:59pm PST on 18 July 2014. There are detailed terms and conditions: for example, the prize draw does not operate in all countries, and entrants must be 18 or over.
In addition to the prizes, there are also rewards such as t-shirts, posters, and a private screening of the new Star Wars film.
The notion of ‘Force for Change’ derives from The Force that permeates the Star Wars films. As Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi said:

“The Force is an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us. It penetrates us. It binds the galaxy together.”
