Voluntary sector staff see basic salaries grow by 5.3%, says survey

Average basic salaries for staff employed in the voluntary sector increased by 5.3% in the past 12 months, compared to a growth rate of 4.1% in 2004, according to the 17th Annual Voluntary Sector Salary Survey 2005 published by Remuneration Economics in association with the National Council for Voluntary Organisations.
Recruitment problems and a high rate of staff turnover in the Voluntary Sector were seen as two of the main reasons for this increase.
This represents a higher rate of increase than that revealed in Remuneration Economics’ private sector surveys where the average salary increase seen was only 4.3%.
