University foundation’s income up by 50%
The Trinity Foundation in Dublin saw its income for the year ending 2012 jump by nearly 50%, according the Foundation’s latest annual report.
In the year ending September 2012 the Foundation’s income increased from €15 million in 2011 to €22.5 million. The most notable areas of growth were in charitable trust support which increased to over €12 million, from just under €5 million in 2011, while legacy income went from under €400,000 to €3.4 million.
The increases in legacies and trust income more than offset the drop in alumni income and corporate support which declined from €4.8 million to €3.4 million and from €5 million to €3.6 million respectively.

A key project during the year for Trinity College Dublin was the Science Gallery which attracted support from a number of businesses, including a €1 million gift from Google.
Alumni fundraising includes a number of ‘circles’ ranging in value from donations of €1000 to €100,000. €10,000 from 280 individuals was also raised from the Foundation’s Christmas appeal.
