Oxfam fights charity myths with 'self-defence' booklet for supporters

‘The Art of Self-Defence for Oxfam supporters’ booklet counters popular myths about Oxfam that its supporters and volunteers find themselves having to contend with.

The booklet counters accusations that Oxfam spends most of its income on administration or wasted donations to its tsunami appeal. Indeed, it does so in a positive and often humorous way. In response to the suggestion that “Oxfam threw our tsunami cash down the toilet” it admits “we did, actually, explaining that “after the Asian tsunami, we built more than 4,600 latrines across the affected region” because “proper sanitation prevents disease and saves lives.”
